EARLY WARNING AND PREVENTING VIOLENT EXTREMISM: A TOOLKIT

The Early Warning/Early Response and PVE Toolkit was developed as a joint endeavour by the African Union (AU) Conflict Prevention and Early Warning Division (CPEWD),
the African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT/CAERT), and the UNDP regional project, ‘Preventing and Responding to Violent Extremism in Africa: A
Development Approach. The Toolkit was developed in follow-up to a UNDP – AU CPEWD Dialogue on Conflict Prevention, Early Warning and Horizon Scanning held in March
2019, where the need to strengthen early warning in the context of violent extremism was identified.
