AKA: HTS, Organization for the Liberation of the Levant

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) is a Sunni Islamic alliance of militant groups active in Syria. The group, formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra, which served as Al-Qaeda’s local affiliate in Syria, is a part of this broader alliance. It rebranded itself in 2017 merging with smaller Syrian factions.
