Also known as: The Tamil Tigers, the Eellalan Force, the Ellalan Force, the Tiger Movement, the Sangilian Force, the Air Tigers, the Black Tigers (Karum Puligal), the Sea Tigers, the Tiger Organization Security Intelligence Service (TOSIS) and the Women’s Combat Force of Liberation Tigers (WCFLT).

 

Also known as the Tamil Tigers, this militant guerilla organization is based in northeastern Sri Lanka with the intention of creating an independent state for the Tamil people of Sri Lanka. They were formed in 1976 in response to discrimination and persecution of Tamils, they were active during the Sri Lankan Civil War and had navy, airborne , intelligence and suicide-attack units.
